AQD102 Theology: Towards the Divine Light
This course will begin with an overview and contrasting of the main theological and eschatological beliefs of the major civilizations and religions of the past, including: Mesopotamians, Assyrians, Ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Akkadians, Greeks, Romans, African Traditional beliefs, Arabians of Mecca and Christians.
The course will also provide a brief study of the history of Islamic theological beliefs; its major evolutions and the circumstances precipitating the development of various groups and sects. This will include: the

. Finally, the course will then discuss the origins of the various schools of Islamic theology, principally analyzing the
Asha'riyyah
and

turidiyyah
creeds, and the opinions agreed upon between them. This will include an analysis of the principles of Islamic Theology and the principle verses and traditions which ordain these beliefs.
